Michelle Smith doing her thing at 3rd

Michelle Smith finished her college career at Stanford University in 2008 as one of the most accomplished players in school history. The corner infielder started all 240 games of her career and etched her name on the Cardinal career top-10 charts in five offensive categories with 190 hits, 33 doubles, 40 homeruns, 80 walks and 177 RBI.

As a freshman in 2005, Smith wasted no time showing her potential, ripping a school record 19 homeruns, and becoming the school's 11th All-American. By the end of her career, she had joined Olympian Jessica Mendoza as the only players in school history to hit 40 or more career homers. Defensively, Smith was a four-year fixture of the Cardinal infield. As a senior, she became just the fourth Stanford player to reach 400 career assists.

Smith earned All-Pac-10 honors all four years, the 11th player in program history to do so, and was a three-time conference All-Academic pick.

Michelle Smith then worked on the Cardinal staff for a year as a assistant coach in 2008-2009.

A native of Agoura Hills, Smith finished her degree in human biology in June and is currently coaching with several local high schools and travel teams in the Conejo Valley. Michelle can be reached for hitting and fielding lessons at 818-324-5973
